My New Daily Driver

Here's some pictures of my  new daily driver. It's a 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid that I picked up with 8 miles on the odometer. Driving the Z is always an experience, but it's not fun when I've daily driven her since new in 1995 and have to pay close to $3.00 per gallon for super unleaded. I've been averaging 800 miles per week ever since I started my new job. What better daily driver can you get than one that can get up to 48 MPG. I've been averaging 42+ MPG since I bought her. The great thing is that I only have to buy regular unleaded.

People have asked me why didn't I buy a Toyota Prius. I didnt buy a Prius because it's:

1) Ugly

2) A Toyota and I am not fond of Toyotas.

3) It would have cost me around $26,000 and that price is non-negotiable.

4) You have to order the Prius and it takes 3-6 weeks to get your car.

5) My Honda Civic Hybrid looks like a Honda Civic and I think it's a very sharp looking car. The lines just flow and it's a dream to drive.

I never thought I would say this, but this car is almost as fun to drive as my Twin Turbo. It's so quiet and smooth. It's not the most powerful car in the world, but that's not the mission of this car. 93 HP is good enough for a daily commuter. How does this car go about saving gas? Well, the engine always runs until you are stopped, then the motor shuts off. As soon as you release the brakes, the motor just comes back to life without any cranking noises. Everytime you hit the brakes, it recharges the batteries. Also, while cruising on the roads, if you are not heavy into the accelerator, it charges the batteries as well. I will definitely have fun with this car.
